Leadership decisions follow from strategy, not the other way round
By Sarah Pinto
A strategy sets direction. Its execution depends on the leadership capability put in place to deliver it — and on knowing which capability gaps are real.
Start from what the strategy requires
Strategy & Leadership translates strategic ambition and transformation priorities into the leadership capabilities, roles, governance and succession choices required for execution. The starting point is the strategy itself, not the existing organisation chart.
Not every gap is a hiring gap
Some capability gaps are closed by developing people already in the organisation; others require redesigning a role, changing reporting lines or clarifying governance before any appointment is considered. Deciding what to strengthen, redesign, develop internally or source externally is itself the work.
Succession is a leadership decision, not an HR process
Succession choices sit alongside hiring decisions because both answer the same question: who is accountable for what the strategy requires, and when.
Judgement applied consistently
Where market research and Evense Intelligence support a Strategy & Leadership assignment, the same principle from Executive Search applies: evidence organises the decision; a senior adviser and the client remain responsible for it.
